The firm undertakes civil and structural engineering consultancy work. It is registered with the National Construction Industry Council of Malawi. The firm’s operations comply with the code of ethics of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Malawi.
WTM Chirwa & Associates, has over 30 years of experience Designing, Building and Supervising Construction Projects in Malawi. Our Industry experience ranges from Quantity Surveying, Structural Design and Structural Analysis, as well as Project Management.
We have overseen or been responsible for projects that range from Sewage and Sanitation Works, Roads and Bridges, The Construction of Government and Municipal buildings, Schools and Laboratories, Shopping Centers and Bank Branches.
Notably some of our work include the Keza Office Part, Margistrate Court, Game Shopping Complex in Blantyre and The Parliamentary Buildings in Lilongwe.
The firm shall endeavor to provide, to the best of its ability, an excellent service to humanity in the practice of the science and art of structural and civil engineering through the design of infrastructures that are elegant and economical while safely resisting the forces to which they may be subjected in consideration of minimum environmental impact.
To minimize the impact on the environment, we have taken a leading role of specifying concrete bricks instead of burnt bricks on the projects in which we are currently involved. We believe that will assist in reducing deforestation. To keep abreast in legal and social developments in environmental affairs, our staff have attended courses on Environmental Impact Assessment.
Malawi is classified as an earthquake prone area. We have participated in the development of code of practice to address design requirements for earthquake resistant structures. Our designs have since incorporated such requirements.

We make structural drawings using the most current Engineering Standards for projects of varying magnitude.
We carry out independent site visits as well as structural analysis using Engineering software to assess the integrity of buildings and their respective structural designs.
We offer our services as project managers and site supervisors for different client projects that need expert oversight.
Using the latest equipment in ultrasound and signal detection we can find cracks and voids hidden in concrete. We can detect the profile of the rebar in it, as well as determine the quality of the concrete within seconds.
Investigate what lies beneath concrete walls before you renovate to avoid accidentally cutting through electrical wiring, pipes or reinforcement.
